Art Korner Galleries Collective : An Effort to Reduce Event Clashes
Too many art events clashing while other days simply go without a single event? The Art Korner Galleries Collective is an initiative by us to solve this problem for the art community.
Objectives of the Project
To reduce the number of event clashes in the art world of Second Life
Set a standard by promoting ONLY original artists and photographers and not encouraging people who infringe on the copyrights of others by displaying and selling copyrighted images and/or manipulated versions of them
Collaborate to extend your reach to a larger number of people
How will it work?
We will be using two calendars for this purpose – one, which is the Art & Photography Events Calendar (which is public and already exists) and the second, which we call the Event Planning Calendar (which will be shared only among members who are part of the Collective).
Each member of the Collective will be asked to create an ID for themselves (just like a password), which acts as a security measure to prevent others from submitting events to the Event Planning Calendar under the name of their gallery
Submissions to the Event Planning Calendar can be made through the following FORM by curators of the respective galleries using the created IDs
The calendar link will be provided to curators upon joining this collaborative project and the calendar will be updated twice a week, on Monday and Friday
Providing event details, such as name of the artist and musicians, is optional, as some galleries wish to keep their details confidential. However, we wish to assure you that the details, if provided, will remain private with the coordinators and will not be shared with anyone
Additional Publicity Perks for Members
Every Monday, we will be publishing a schedule of all events happening at Galleries in the Collective. If you haven’t filled the details while submitting your event to the Event Planning Calendar, please ensure you have filled up the following FORM before the Sunday preceding your event.
Members of the Art Korner Galleries Collective will be given enhanced placement in the Art Korner Exhibits HUD, which is out every week
We will also be helping out members of the Art Korner Galleries Collective with publicity for their events as well as with post-opening publicity through Art Korner. However, the blog will remain an independent entity of its own.
Criteria for Membership
Membership to the Collective is absolutely FREE and comes at no cost to any gallery involved.
The first round of membership is by invitation only. We will be contacting the first round of galleries soon. While we would like to include as many galleries as possible in the collective, a large number to begin with might be overwhelming for us. So, we will be slowly adding galleries. So, if your gallery is not in the first round, please don’t think we don’t want you in the Collective. We are just taking it one step at a time, so as not to be overwhelmed by it.
Galleries which are part of the Collective need to be free of any copyrighted work being used without explicit permission of the original artist. While it may not be possible for you to detect/check each piece, as a responsible gallery owner/curator, you should be willing to act on it if a third party comes forward with reasonable proof of copyright infringement.
Please reach out to Frank Atisso if there are any issues or if you have any questions
