CALL FOR ARTISTS - "Orange The World" Art Installation at Artsville

We welcome all 2D and 3D artists who want to join hands with us at Artsville/Art Korner to increase awareness about gender-based violence against women and girls, both in the physical world and the virtual world.

About "Orange The World - 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence"

The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign that kicks off on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day. It was started by activists at the inaugural Women’s Global Leadership Institute in 1991 and continues to be coordinated each year by the Center for Women’s Global Leadership. It is used as an organizing strategy by individuals and organizations around the world to call for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls.

In support of this civil society initiative, the United Nations Secretary-General’s UNiTE by 2030 to End Violence against Women campaign (UNiTE campaign) calls for global actions to increase awareness, galvanize advocacy efforts, and share knowledge and innovations.

The global theme for this year’s 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, which will run from 25 November to 10 December 2022, is “UNITE! Activism to end violence against women and girls”.

"Orange The World" Art Installation at Artsville

We are planning a 16-day long art installation at Artsville in Second Life, created to increase awareness about gender-based violence.

The installation will be open from November 25th to December 10th, 2022.

How can you be a part of it?

We are encouraging artists to submit one single piece of work, that will only be displayed at the installation (no sales). It need not be exclusive or new, but should be related to the general theme, celebrating the power, beauty and empowerment of women around the world.

Please try to ensure that the work is positive, uplifting and empowering rather than negative in nature.

2D artists can send in their entries to Frank Atisso via notecard with your SL name clearly mentioned, along with the enclosed full perm texture.

In case you are a 3D artist who wishes to contribute in some way, please contact Frank Atisso directly, so that we can coordinate.

Important Dates

  • Last Date for Submission of Entries - November 22nd

  • Opening Event - November 25th

  • Closing Event - December 10th

We will be having more events between and the schedule will be communicated to you soon.
